LAKOTA
Reno Nevada
Lakota is gorgeous and sweet all at the same time! Lakota is only 4 years old, spayed, weighs 70 lbs., and has the most beautiful blue eyes! Time is of the essence.
Owner rescued her with a litter of puppies 2-1/2 years ago. Owners are seniors and have 6 other dogs they rescued - it's getting to be too much!
When Lakota is in the yard she just watches passing dogs and does not react unless another dog threatens. She will chew through her harness occasionally so needs a Martingale collar when out walking. She has great recall in the yard but has never been off leash outside of her yard. When she does escape, she will stick around and come back to you.

Lakota does not have much experience with other dogs. She is very submissive with people and kids.
Lakota is well behaved and housetrained indoors but is not allowed indoors much with all the dogs. The senior owners can't handle them all. Lakota is kennel trained and also has a 10 x 12 kennel outside, which she will get in during thunderstorms when frightened. She has been left alone in a kennel both inside and outside. She is not destructive but will look for opportunities to get out of her yard to get chickens [she only has a 4' fence]. She knows Sit, Stay, Slow down. She needs a taller fence!
This girl is very shy when she first meets you [see video on our FB] but is affectionate once she gets to know you and loves to go for walks. She does have some Stranger Danger so could be an escape risk in the beginning until she settles in. Lakota would do best with an experienced handler to teach her how to trust new people.

Lakota only gets a 30-min walk once a day and does not get to meet other dogs, so a new home with a friendly male dog may be just what she needs, or she would be fine as an only dog with someone to give her a lot of love and attention. Although this pretty girl is a Husky, she could benefit with a wolfdog-experienced handler who understands shy pups.
No kids, cats, little dogs please. A calm adult home would be best.

Our Sweet Valentine - ADOPTED!
8 years young
Spayed and loving
Santa Cruz CA area
VALENTINE - This pretty girl was in a VERY temporary foster home.
Valentine has been well loved and cared for but sadly her owner passed away. A foster is keeping her safe but now Valentine needs a new home where she will continue to be loved and cherished. The foster works long hours away from home and Valentine does not like that. She has extreme Separation Anxiety and gets upset when she is left.
We looked for someone that works at home, retired, or has someone in the family that can hang with this girl - and found them! Valentine loves people and is very sweet and affectionate. She just wants to be with you. This beauty girl has pretty brown eyes and a gorgeous white coat.

This is what her Foster Mom says ...
Valentine is really sweet and well behaved
She shows no signs of aggression or concern with any other dogs large or small, gets along well.
She is VERY people oriented. She is friendly with all people right away and will look to the people for a pet before she pays any attention to other dogs
She does not seem to care much about having lots of property or extreme exercise and shows no signs of wanting to escape as long as someone is home. She likes to be near her people.
She does well in the house and prefers to be inside with you, although will be ok outside in her yard when people are at home.
She lives to play fetch
She walks great on a leash - no pulling.
She loves car rides

We have a Potential Adopter that is very interested in this girl, but their male dog is having a difficulty accepting her. They are currently doing walks together and it's going well, but he is slow to invite her into his home.
This sweetheart wants to sleep indoors with you, be cuddled and go out for fun walks. Another friendly male or as an only dog would be just fine for Valentine.
No kids or cats please. She does chase squirrels and has a prey drive out in the yard.

STORM
The Perfect and Beautiful STORM
11-mo-old male pup with
Paws Without Borders Rescue
Tucson AZ
Months ago, a team of trappers (HARTT) finally managed to capture a pup that had been out loose in the Phoenix area for over three months.
Storm is currently in foster with a pack of rescue Huskies. Storm needs a very experienced handler as he is a bit of a flight risk. He loves to be with his pack and may howl when alone - Storm is still very skittish. He will now come to you when loose in the enclosure and Foster can leash him up and handle him all over, but he is still very timid with new people. Storm is getting more socializing with humans on a regular basis.

Storm used to run the perimeter of the acreage looking for an escape but he is not even trying to escape now. In a new home he will need to acclimate for a while and learn to trust his new owner - and soon he will be just fine. Storm is contained in a paddock with 8’ tall fencing and foster is working with him every day.
This pup is sweet, very beta/passive, demonstrates zero aggression and interacts with her dogs just fine. He has been fully vetted and neutered. He cannot go to just any home.
Foster says:
"Storm is so sweet. Once he’s relaxed, he will allow me to sit with him and pet or brush him. He takes food gently out of my hands too. He really needs a pack of his own that will accept him and play with him. Storm finds comfort in other mates. His howl is soulful and endearing. He had been attacked by coyotes when he came to me but has been completely mended. -He allowed the vets to handle him with relative ease because he tends to freeze or retreat when nervous. I love this little guy and would love to see him in an environment he can thrive in."

Wolfdog or feral-dog experience extremely helpful for adoption - someone around a lot to continue his training [works at home, retired, etc.] or a sanctuary that can rehabilitate him for his forever home. DNA results soon to come. Storm will need escape-proof containment as he is a flight risk.
Transportation help to his new home is available! We would love a home in a cool climate where Storm can play in the snow with a nice canine companion or two.

Senior sister and brother need a new home ASAP. British Columbia
Transportation help available!
Chief and Raven are about 11 years old, in good health, have perfect energy, and are calm and loving companions in and around the house. Their senior owners can no longer keep them and are desperate to find a loving home for their beloved friends.

Owner says they are great at protecting property from wildlife, are used to relaxing around outside, being walked in mellow walks 2 times a day, and otherwise sleep on an enclosed porch or inside the home [housetrained].
These pups love being in the woods and playing in creeks. They have been well loved all these years and now find themselves threatened of going to a shelter if a home is not found right away. A no-kill shelter has agreed to take them but they will spend the rest of their lives in a cage.

If you can help these two beautiful pups by fostering or adopting them - together - please click on the link below and just follow the directions.

Lake Tahoe, NV
1 1/2-year-old White German Shepherd
Florence
This sweet little girl wound up at a kill shelter - thin, scared and very pregnant! Unfortunately, the shelter decided to spay her anyway, which resulted in a difficult recovery for this poor pup.
Luckily a kind Rescue woman picked her up, fostered her temporarily, and then arranged for Florence to go to Tahoe where Florence will continue to recuperate at another Rescue.
Florence will soon need a permanent home with someone who will be around a lot to give her lots of love and attention (Retired, works at home etc.), and maybe another canine companion. She deserves it!

This sweetie weighs about 55lbs now but will gain a bit more with some healthy food and vitamin supplements. Florence is good with other dogs and I'm told she is even good with cats. She is very gentle and loving and right now just wants to be cuddled. She walks nicely on leash, housetrained and kenneled trained.
We don't usually rehome to those with tiny dogs/kids/cats but Florence may find happiness in a home with a kitty and a smaller dog - she is very gentle - as long as the Adopter knows how to properly introduce and monitor playtime.
Florence is a lucky one to have found this angel to foster her, and she will grow strong and playful in no time! We will keep you updated on her progress.

Rocky ADOPTED!
South Lake Tahoe
Is loving his new home!
Rocky is such a pup!
Only 1 year, 3 months old]
Stunning Hazel eyes, 85 lbs,
and up to date on vaccinations
Needs to be neutered for adoption
Rocky loves to play with other dogs, but being a big young guy, he plays a little rough.
He needs an owner that will monitor his playtime and let him know when to be gentle.
Rocky walks nicely on leash with slight pulling.
He's well behaved indoors, kennel and housetrained.

Rocky was saved from the shelter and is in a temporary foster home. His foster is doing some training with him and he learns quickly.
Rocky can be left home alone with no destruction for short periods of time, but does counter surf, so some training in this area would be beneficial.
Rocky currently has 6' fencing and gets two walks a day, but he would love some real hiking in the snow, swimming in the lake or splashing in creeks. He has a slight allergy to chicken, gets itchy. A real-meat diet is best for this boy - beef, lamb or pork.
Rocky is submissive with adults and children but we do not rehome to those with children/small dogs or cats.

Malamutes need a calm disciplined environment, a nice fenced yard for those times when you are not around, as well as someone home a lot to play with [retired, works at home etc.].
